This bizarre-looking giraffe was recently spotted roaming Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. Because of the animal’s pale colour, a local guide aptly named it ‘Omo’ after the washing detergent. Omo is leucistic, meaning many of her skin cells are not able of making pigment. She is extremely rare and currently the only known giraffe with the condition, but other leucistic animals such as waterbuck, Cape buffalo and ostrich have been observed in Tanzania, even in the same National Park. Unfortunately, her white appearance means she will be an easy target for predators and human poachers.
